About
The operator, the operating model, and the verification details for getting in touch.
Background
Background spans systems architecture, research synthesis, and operational discipline across several types of business problem before Virium. Virium Holdings Ltd consolidates that operating discipline into two service tiers: Advisory (digital systems) and Research (decision-grade memos).
Operating model is deliberately solo. Direct delivery by one operator with AI-assisted tooling for speed and synthesis; human review and judgement throughout. No outsourced fulfilment. No junior-staff handoffs. The operator on the discovery call is the operator who delivers the work and the operator you escalate to if anything goes wrong.
Why solo (rather than agency or team)
You work directly with the person doing the work. Communication stays short, overhead stays low, accountability stays clear. The trade-off is capacity: Virium takes on a defined number of engagements at a time and turns work away when full. That's by design.
Trust & Verification
Privacy and confidentiality
Standard data handling: information you provide via email is used for the engagement and not shared, sold, or used for marketing. Full privacy notice at /privacy.
For Research engagements involving confidential material, we sign mutual NDAs as standard. For Advisory engagements involving access to your systems (CMS logins, automation platform credentials), credentials are stored in a password manager with engagement-specific access only and removed at handoff.
Response window
Replies within one business day. If a faster response is needed (active incident, time-sensitive decision), flag it in the subject line.
Frequently asked questions
Why solo rather than agency or team?
Short version: faster turnaround, lower overhead, direct accountability, no telephone game. The trade-off is capacity, which is managed by turning work away rather than scaling staff.
Can you sign NDAs?
Yes. Mutual NDAs are standard for Research engagements involving confidential material. We can also sign client-supplied NDAs subject to standard review.
What happens to confidential material?
Engagement materials are stored in operator-controlled systems (encrypted local storage and encrypted cloud backup). Not shared with AI providers' training datasets. Virium uses API access with no-train flags, not consumer chat interfaces, for work involving confidential client material. Credentials provided for system access are stored in a password manager with engagement-specific access only and removed at handoff.
How does AI-assisted delivery actually work in practice?
AI tooling provides leverage on the parts of the work that scale (drafting, scaffolding, source coverage, synthesis). The operator does the parts that don't (judgement, review, decisions, writing). For Advisory, that means working systems delivered faster than agency turnaround without sacrificing operator-level review of every artefact. For Research, it means broader source coverage and tighter synthesis without sacrificing operator-written analysis grounded in directly-read primary sources. In both cases, what you receive is operator-reviewed work, not raw AI output.
Do you sub-contract?
No. All work is delivered directly. If a scope genuinely requires expertise outside Virium's range, we'll recommend a specialist rather than sub-contract.
What if I'm not happy with the result?
Both Advisory and Research engagements include defined revision rounds (two for Advisory, one for Research). If the issue is genuinely that scope was misunderstood, we re-scope at no charge. If the issue is that the work doesn't meet the agreed scope, we revise until it does. If the issue is that you've changed your mind about what you wanted, we re-scope and re-quote the additional work.
What if delivery overruns the agreed timeline?
Discovery and proposal include realistic timelines with buffer. If overrun is operator-caused, no additional charge. We deliver against the agreed scope. If overrun is scope-creep-caused (you've added requirements), we flag it at the point of change and re-quote.
Do you offer ongoing retainers?
Yes. Advisory monthly retainers from £200 cover ongoing maintenance, content updates, and minor system changes. Research retainers can be scoped where a recurring decision-support need is a good fit; otherwise we work memo by memo.
How do you handle disputes?
First step: direct conversation. Most issues resolve there. If escalation is needed, we follow standard UK commercial dispute resolution. We carry no PI insurance at this stage; engagements where PI cover would be material to your decision are flagged at proposal stage.
